Fundraising Ideas

There are so many options for fundraising for your group! We’ve compiled a list of our favorite fundraising ideas for all ages!

Simple Fundraiser

The Simple Fundraising site offers a free service for fundraising with sales! Sign up and get your own online store with fun items for every lifestyle. Use your social media outlets to promote your fundraiser to friends, family, and followers for an extra boost. This is the most hands-off, headache-free way to fundraise!

T Shirt Fundraiser

Customize a t-shirt with your organization’s name and cause! Make it something fun and eye catching that your supporters will love to wear. Shirt printers usually have designers on staff to work with you to create something great. Bonus points for supporting local businesses such as The Teehive!

Community Sale

Get your group to come together and gather items they don’t use anymore. It’s the classic garage sale, just scaled up! Set up a few rows of tables and station a volunteer with a cash box. Bonus: Set up a card reader for more accessibility!

Silent Auction

Another step up from the community sale is the silent auction! This one takes a bit more organization with a volunteer who is comfortable announcing the items and bids, but certainly worth it! There are many auction ideas you can do... art, antiques, furniture… Not sure if you have anything worth auctioning? Spend the Summer months searching garage sales for items at a steal, then auction them off for a profit!

Host a 5k

Give them a run for their money! Hosting a race in your community can be a great way to raise funds. Fundraiser activities can be exciting for everyone! Have racers pay a fee for entry. Local businesses can participate by sponsoring the event and its runners. Offer placements on an event shirt for their logos for bigger appeal!

Bake Sale

Do you have a few members who are a little too into baking? Put those skills to use with a bake sale! People love home-baked treats and if it is for a good cause those cookies taste even better. If you’re not so great at baking, ask around. You may be able to find family members willing to give you a hand! [Thanks, mom!]

Game Tournament

Whether it is board games or video games, bust out the classics for a broader range or go specific if it fits your crowd! Make sure the game is one where a clear winner can be determined. For larger groups, compete in brackets or in teams. Look for local game and hobby stores to partner with. Charge a fee for players to enter and offer a prize to the champion!

Penny Wars

This is a great idea for kids! Group together into teams and get a couple jars! Cents count as points, but a dollar counts against 100 pennies. Encourage people to put dollars in the opposing teams’ jars, keeping the cents in your own. See who wins!

Used Book Sale

Do you have old books collecting dust? See what your group can bring together and host a book sale! You get to raise money on the cheap while passing your adventures on to the next person. Best part: Now you have room for more books!

Paint Together

Invite everyone out to try their hand at painting! Create an example that you’ll walk the class through to create their own versions. Not artistic? That’s ok! See if you can find a local artist for hire or one who is willing to donate their time to your cause. Charge attendees a fee for entry.

Bonus: If possible, provide drinks and snacks, or host at a restaurant!

Talent Show

A talent show is a great idea for fundraising at school! Give people a chance to shine through singing, dancing, acting, and so much more! Hosting a talent show can be a great way to draw attention to your cause. Encourage people to use social media to hype up your event, post their selfies under a hashtag, or even look into creating a local Snapchat filter! Offer a prize or title for the top winner!

Whew! These are some of our top choices for fundraising in your community and over the web. Many of these can be done fairly cheap or completely free, depending on your resources. Good luck fundraising!
